The CCCCC applauds the accomplishments of Dr. Kenrick Leslie, Dr. Ulric Trotz, and Dr. Leonard Nurse, who were recognized at the Caribbean Night reception during the 104th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society in Baltimore, Maryland. These Caribbean scientists, acknowledged by the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, have played significant roles in advancing our understanding of the region’s climate and promoting climate resilience.

Responding to this recognition, Dr. Colin Young, Executive Director at the CCCCC, commented, “It is only fitting that the American Meteorological Society recognized the sterling service and contributions of these three distinguished Caribbean scientists for their efforts to better understand the Region’s climate and the impact that climate change is having on the Region. Drs. Leslie, Trotz, and Nurse collectively provided over 30 years of distinguished service to the CCCCC, which resulted in the CCCCC being recognized as one of the very few United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Centre of Excellence; their work built a solid foundation that is allowing the CCCCC to continue delivering on its mandate of coordinating the Caribbean’s response to climate change. We, once again, express our sincere gratitude for the distinguished service to the CCCCC and the region.”

Dr. Leslie, who served as the first Executive Director of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), together with Dr. Trotz and Dr. Nurse, have made an indelible mark on climate science with their contributions resonating beyond borders, shaping a more resilient Caribbean.

The CCCCC proudly supports and recognises their commitment to contributing to a sustainable and climate-resilient future for the region.
