For many years the Centre has worked with USAID as a development partner. In 2020, we closed a 5-year project called the Climate Change Adaptation Programme (CCAP), which focused on reducing risk to human and natural assets resulting from climate change vulnerability.  The programme was implemented in 9 Caribbean countries including Anitgua and Barbuda, Barbados, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname.  Through the programme, these beneficiary states were able to strengthen and integrate the use of climate information in decision making, and receive innovative climate investments to strengthen their water sector.  Furthermore, the USAID-CCAP positioned the  Eastern and Southern Caribbean to access unprecedented levels of climate financing at a ratio of 5 to 1 on its foundational investments – this has since amounted to a value of climate change financing of approximately US$55.7 million in projects within the Eastern and wider Caribbean – a level of access never before achieved.
