The Executive Director of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), Dr. Colin Young, will be one of the guest speakers during the Closing Ceremony of the Inaugural Virtual Caribbean Youth Parliament on Climate Justice, which will take place on Thursday 23 September 2021.

The CCCCC is an inter-governmental organization mandated to lead the Caribbean’s response to managing and adapting to climate change in addition to serving as the main repository for regional and national information on climate change.

Colin Young is a national of Belize. He served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Social Security Board, a parastatal entity that administers Belize’s Social Security Fund from 2017 to 2019 were he championed contribution reform, technology transformation and numerous legislative changes. Previously to that, he served as the CEO in the
Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, the Environment, Sustainable Development, as well as CEO in the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities. Colin Young has served on numerous Boards in public, private and civil society sectors, including the Green Climate Fund, a financial mechanism under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Prior to working in the public sector, Colin Young was an Assistant Professor at Galen University, where he was also the Director of Galen University’s Environmental Science program and MBA program. At Galen, he co-developed a Galen’s flagship program in sustainable development at both the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels.
