The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre with funds from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is calling on all Caribbean citizens 10 years and older from the Caribbean to capture the “Colour of Climate Change” by submitting photos depicting climate change from their perspective. The objective of this competition is to gather photos from across the region to build an image bank for the Centre to be used in communication activities and product development related to climate change.

Rules

Stage 1: Submission of Photos and Selection of top 10 Finalists

  • Participants MUST be citizens of Caribbean countries 10 years and older.
  • All photos submitted MUST include a description of no more than 100 words, telling a story, including the topic, location and sector featured to pr@caribbeanclimate.bz with the subject of the email: The Colour of Climate Change Photo Competition. New Deadline for submission is September 10, 2021.
  • Photos are to be original, royalty free, of high resolution (300 DPI) and must focus on climate related topics that show at least one climate change impact, on sectors such as water, health, agriculture, marine and coastal zone, renewable energy, or tourism. Climate Related impacts to feature can include disaster risk management, adaptation, mitigation, or marine and coastal zone related (for example sea level rise).
  • Maximum of 5 photos per person
  • All participants are to email proof of nationality and a signed photo declaration form along with their submission i.e. copy of passport or National Identification Card.

  • By submitting an entry, participants agree and grant permission for full use of each image by the CCCCC to be placed in their image bank for unlimited use in communication products and activities.

Stage 2:  Facebook Engagement Competition to Select Winners

On September 16, 2021, the Centre will announce the top 10 finalists by publishing a Facebook post for each finalist, after which, finalists MUST

  • Share the post inviting their family and friends to react and share their photo on the Centre’s original post
  • Invite family and friends to like the Centre’s Facebook page.

The photos with the most engagement (like, heart, wow, share, etc.) by 4:00 pm CST on October 1, 2021, will be selected as the top 3 winners.

Winners will be announced on the Centre’s Facebook page on October 8, 2021.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $500 USD Cash
  • 2nd Place: $350 USD Cash
  • 3rd Place: $200 USD Cash
