This project supported the electrification of the Kalinago Indigenous Community in Dominica using renewable energy provided by a Photo Voltaic (PV) array system.
The system included:
- a 125 kilowatt grid-connected unit to provide power for 145 house previously connected to the public power supply;
- seven (7) individual grid connected systems to provide power for public buildings such as schools, libraries, health center and the Kalinago Council office; and
- fifteen (15) individual battery connected systems providing power for 15 houses not previously connected to the public power supply.
- security fence was also built around the 125 kilowatt power plant as protection and security.
