This project supported the electrification of the Kalinago Indigenous Community in Dominica using renewable energy provided by a Photo Voltaic (PV) array system.

The system included:

  1. a 125 kilowatt grid-connected unit to provide power for 145 house previously connected to the public power supply;
  2. seven (7) individual grid connected systems to provide power for public buildings such as schools, libraries, health center and the Kalinago Council office; and
  3. fifteen (15) individual battery connected systems providing power for 15 houses not previously connected to the public power supply.
  4. security fence was also built around the 125 kilowatt power plant as protection and security.
