Belmopan, January 15, 2017: On Monday January 15, Part 2 (two) of a national workshop on the Caribbean Weather Impacts Group (CARIWIG) Portal and Climate Change Impacts Tools got underway at the George Price Centre in Belmopan, Belize. Part1 (one) took place November 27 to December 1, 2017.

The workshop to introduce the tools and train government officers in their use, is the result of a collaboration between the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC/5Cs) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in association with Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment and Sustainable Development and Immigration and being facilitated through the National Climate Change Office (NCCO).
During the next few days, the participants will be introduced to the CARiDRO tool and the Weather Generator/ Threshold Detector  through facilitation by the Instituto de Meteorología de Cuba (INSMET) and the CCCCC, respectively.
These Tools are included in the Centre’s strategy to  strengthen the region’s capacity to mitigate and build resilience to the impacts of climate variability and change.

This training workshop is being funded by the Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (J-CCCP) project.A brief closing ceremony is planned for 2 pm on Thursday January 18, 2018 at which certificates of completion will be presented to the participants.
